National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 301
Dear Committee Members,
Please do not pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form. I am deeply concerned that it removes rights, reduces choice and control, and will cause real harm to people with disability and their families.
My son, , is an NDIS participant with significant lifelong disability needs. Any reduction, restriction, or narrowing of his supports would have devastating consequences for his safety, health, independence, and quality of life.
I am his mother and primary carer. I am nearly 60 years old and already experiencing serious carer burnout. Without adequate NDIS funding, families like mine are pushed back into the old system — exhausted carers, limited choice, government-controlled respite, and vulnerable participants placed into settings where families may have little visibility or control.
This is not theoretical for me. My sister, who had a disability, died in respite care. I know the consequences when vulnerable people are placed into systems without adequate safeguards, accountability, and family involvement.
The NDIS must protect people with disability, not reduce their rights or make their lives less safe.
I ask that the Bill not be passed in its current form.
Kind regards,
