National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3197
To whom it may concern,
I have found the online submission process ableist and inaccessible and insufficient time provided, therefore I am writing an email instead. Please include this email as a submission regarding the proposed NDIS future generations bill.
I would like to remain anonymous as I am a Social Work Supervisor and work for state government in disability, therefore my submission could put my employment at risk. I have been hesitant to submit this for this reason. Please ensure anonymity.
As a mother and NDIS nominee, I have significant concerns re the proposed bill amendment.
My son has ASD level 2, and is suffering autistic burnout, has recently regressed in skills/independence and completely disengaged with education. He will be 17 next month. I also have an 11yo with ASD2 and other comorbidities.

cutting community access by 50% over and above what has been deemed reasonable and necessary means our most vulnerable persons in society are being left at risk. The NDIS was set up to ensure people with disability could live ordinary lives, this funding is where that happens. This will directly impact on my son’s ability to leave the house, increasing his isolation. This will impact his ability to build confidence and capacity accessing the community and work towards doing this independently and therefore his future participation in the workforce. This will impact his ability to develop life skills and independence. My son is almost 17yo, and we are hoping he will be able to live independently (without parents) in adulthood, and cutting this essential funding may be the difference between whether he is able to achieve this goal or will require 24/7 SIL.

this bill leaves a huge gap, which will ultimately have to be filled by unpaid carers, and disproportionately impact on disadvantage for women. This is likely to directly result in my ability to remain in the workforce.
Please stop this bill amendment!
