National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3315
To the Community Affairs Committee,
I am writing to strongly oppose the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form.
For people living with disability — especially in regional communities like Kalgoorlie Boulder and the wider Goldfields — these changes are not minor administrative reforms. They are changes that could dramatically reduce independence, safety, dignity, and quality of life.
The NDIS is not a luxury. It is what allows people to access essential care, therapies, transport, equipment, communication supports, and the ability to participate in everyday life. Removing or restricting these supports will not create “efficiency” — it will create harm.
Regional Australians with disability already face enormous barriers:
- fewer services,
- long waitlists,
- travel burdens,
- workforce shortages,
- and limited specialist access. Any reduction in choice, control, funding flexibility, or access to supports will hit regional communities even harder.
I ask you to genuinely listen to disabled Australians, carers, families, and advocates who are raising serious concerns about this Bill. Many people are terrified of losing the supports that keep them safe, healthy, connected, and alive.
Please do not pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form.
Disabled Australians deserve policies built with them, not imposed on them.
Sincerely,
Trinity O’Donahue Kalgoorlie-Boulder resident
