National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 339
To whom it may concern 22.5.2026
My name is , I live in South Australia and
have taught, worked with and supported people with various disabilities before the NDIS and with the NDIS in place for more than 25 years. Support that is accurately tailored to the needs and aspirations of a person with a disability gives that person dignity and the belief that they matter and the belief that they can contribute to society. With this bill the Labour Government shows a very clear disregard for people with a
disability, favouring registered services over people's
own agency and choice. Money from the NDIS will flow into the coffers of services and not providing the much needed support for people struggling and in need of support.
This leaves disabled people discouraged and very scared and unsure about what this new law would mean for their lives. It would mean the NDIS wouldn’t work the same way as it does now.
It will be harder to get support from the NDIS, there law
will be changed to emphasise saving money and
evidence that applies to whole groups of people when deciding which supports to provide. Many people will stop getting support from the NDIS. There will be a new definition of functional capacity and
new rules about trying all
appropriate treatment that might alleviate
your disability If you stay on the NDIS you will only get support for some parts of your disability, your plan will only cover disabilities that are accepted by the NDIA

The money in your NDIS plan will not need to be the same as the cost of the support you need, the Minister can decide to provide less funding Some supports will be capped, this might look like a
maximum level or support, or a maximum ratio of
support Disabled people will lose choice and control over their
supports. There will be a new definition of NDIS
providers and the minister will have the power to set
prices. The minister has said he intends to make
assistance with daily life something you need to use a registered provider for. The NDIA will have new powers to investigate and fine people when they think they have done the wrong thing
This bill is clearly not about the well being of Australian
citizens but more about government and government agency power. I care deeply about people with disability and value their unique contributions to our society. To put the responsibility back onto mothers and families or force them to stay at home is not right and I ask that this bill is given more scrutiny before it is passed.
