National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 3486
Sentiment: Oppose
Submission Text: I do not think they should be making cuts to the NDIS, and I believe the new laws the government is trying to pass are inhuman and unjust.
Particularly the introduction of “thresholds” and having people needing to be “assessed” of their functional capacity and need for NDIS support, I believe is cruel, and adding additional barriers for people that need support. It is also a very difficult thing to assess, different physicians may have different ideas what is considered functional. Similarly, certain people may also be discriminated against. It is subjective measure, and therefore carries great risks.
Removing people who have been in car accidents as well is also terrible. When people get into accidents, it’s not just them they need to worry about - they may not be able to work to make income for their families, or their partner may need to take time off work to care for them. It’s paramount the government still consider these people their responsibility, and ensure they have access to everything they need. Governments should still encourage people to utilise other schemes, but to say they can only have one doesn’t consider edge cases - especially for long-term injuries.
I also oppose removing kids under 8 years old. I think this is a clear response to the media smear campaign, as opposed to being in the best interest of the public. Any new program needs to be designed and advised by existing participants and parents, to ensure they are no worse off.
