National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 37
To the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee,
I am writing to oppose the proposed NDIS reforms.
These changes are causing significant fear and distress throughout the disability community. The NDIS provides essential supports that allow disabled Australians and their families to live safely, participate in the community, and avoid crisis.
While I support stronger action against fraud and organised misuse of the scheme, I do not support reforms that make life harder for legitimate participants, carers and families already struggling to access necessary supports.
Reducing or restricting support will not remove disability or need — it will simply shift pressure onto families, hospitals, carers and other already overwhelmed systems.
I urge the Committee to listen to disabled people, families, carers and frontline workers before proceeding with reforms that may cause serious harm to vulnerable Australians.
The proposed reforms will put more pressure on parent carers and other carers of disabled people and this is unacceptable. Removing supports from families will cause further stress and hardship on families that are already burnout.
I implore you to reconsider such harsh changes to participant funding and instead find other ways to continue supporting disabled people, perhaps a gas tax which would create significant revenue which could be used for NDIS
Thank you for considering my submission.
