Submission 525 To whom it may concern,

I am deeply concerned about the proposed NDIS changes and how they may impact my 19-year old son who lives with Angelman Syndrome and Level 3 Autism.

My son requires 24/7 complex care and support for every aspect of daily living, including physical assistance, disability-related bowel care, communication support, supervision for safety, and overnight supports due to a chronic sleep disorder. These supports are not optional extras — they are essential to his safety, wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life.

We are extremely concerned that changes to support ratios or reductions in funding could place him at serious risk. Without appropriate supports, he would likely become increasingly

Submission 525 isolated and lose access to the life skills programs and community participation that help maintain his capacity, emotional wellbeing, regulation, and independence.

Drastic changes to his supports could lead to significant decline in his mental health, functioning, and overall quality of life. It would also place enormous pressure on our family and significantly increase the risk of carer burnout and family breakdown, as the demands of his care are already intensive and ongoing.

People with profound and complex disabilities deserve the opportunity to remain safe, connected, included, and valued members of the community. I ask that these realities are carefully considered when making decisions that affect vulnerable participants and their families.

Submission 525

Sincerely,

Bridget Jones
