National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 920
Dear committee
I am a Disabled person who hasn’t yet had the ability or support to be able to apply for the NDIS, but who desperately needs support & is falling behind in almost every area of survival, to the point where I am concerned about future houselessness.
My main concern about this Bill is that if I should ever become well enough to be able to complete an NDIS application, that I won’t be able to get on it because this bill is cutting down spots, cutting down funding & cutting down opportunities to be accepted. I am also deeply concerned for my disabled friends & community, that their survival needs are going to be disregarded & that they won’t be able to access the things that they’ve leaned on in order to live a life that is supported & fulfilling to them.
What I want the committee to understand is that the disability community is already severely underserved, even with the current iteration of what we know as the NDIS. I am a prime example of someone who has already fallen through the cracks, & desperately needs support, but because of access barriers & the rigorous (& inaccessible) application process, I am not on the NDIS when I need to be. This is a significant problem that already stands, & will only get worse if these cuts go through.
This is a cruelty to disabled people & it is not addressing the actual problems with the NDIS at all. The “rorts” are coming from opportunistic service providers & that is the area that the govt should be looking at to improve the situation for disabled people as well as the NDIS as it stands. What’s happening with the cuts is eugenics, it will get disabled people killed. I am not being hyperbolic, even though I am sure that will be a kneejerk response to my previous statement, I’d ask you to sit with & consider why taking funding away from people who are already in desperate need, & who already sit at or below the poverty line would be considered anything but.

Pleas act with compassion & care for our community. Being disabled is not a unique experience in life, it can happen to anyone, at any time! & it will happen to us all eventually, if we live long enough - so these decisions that are being made will impact people you know, & eventually yourselves if you have the privilege of living a long life.
