Can the NDIA please provide a summary of training and competencies for NDIS Planners and indicate how frequently these are reviewed in the light of changes to legislation and operational guidelines.

Frontline Readiness is the structured multi-modal learning program for participant support officers and planning delegates who are new to frontline roles.
Planners complete the program which includes training in:
- The participant journey
- Awareness of disability and its impact
- Communication skills
- Identifying risks and supporting decision making
- Engaging and applying for NDIS
- Reasonable and necessary
- Creating and approving a plan
- Plan check-ins and monitoring
- Using and changing a plan
Training packages are updated or supplemented within 14 days of changes to legislation and operational guidelines.
Staff new to planning roles are further supported in on-the-job learning by the National New Starter Learning Program (NNSLP) and their line manager.
Competencies in each of these topics are reviewed and assessed by line managers, according to individual roles and responsibilities.

Do front of house staff receive specific training in current best evidence based trauma informed practices and disability specific awareness ? If so what checks are made to ensure that learnings are integrated into every day work?

Front of House staff receive training in participant engagement and disability awareness to the same level as planning staff. Our training embeds principles found in trauma-informed approaches across multiple modules.

Frontline learning current training embeds principles found in trauma-informed approaches across multiple modules, especially in the interpersonal and communication training modules.
Staff new to PSO roles are supported through on-the-job training and review through the National New Starter Learning Program. Additionally, line managers are responsible for reviewing and embedding good practice according to individual roles and responsibilities.
