eLearn: Advice on decreasing funding to $0 then declining the support in PACE when participant advises that they haven’t used continence products for 2 years but wants the funding included in case of future needs. However the OT recommended them in their report. This support would be declined as well as mentioned in plan along with justification, as they are no longer used by the participant.

Session: Change the funding of consumables from $6,000 to $0 per year and record a declined support.

Justification:

  • Section 34.1(aa)

  • Rule 5.1(b)

  • Rule 5.1(d)

Your occupational therapist requested funding for continence products in your plan, however you have confirmed that you do not use continence products and do not require this support in your plan.

Plan supports section = “We also think about how supports work together to support a participant’s needs and goals. For example, a home modification may reduce a participant’s need for other supports. We’ll need to take any planned home modification into account when we think about what other supports they need. For example, they might need less supports for care at home.”

Where a lower cost support will achieve the same result, the NDIS will generally fund the lower-cost option.

Conflicting evidence is assessed by considering the basis of each option, expert qualifications and the timing of the evidence

Includes examples where insufficient information was provided to support the requested support

Includes examples where evidence does not demonstrate the requested support is likely to be effective and beneficial
