This article provides guidance for an access delegate, local area coordinator, early childhood partner or internal review delegate to understand how to:

  • review evidence of recommended early intervention supports to consider if they are most appropriately funded by the NDIS
  • use this information to support the person to understand the eligibility requirements.

Review evidence of recommended early intervention supports

Before you make an eligibility decision about this early intervention requirement, you must find out if early intervention supports have been recommended by a Treating Professional. You do this by checking the person’s application and evidence.

To make an eligibility decision about this early intervention requirement, you must consider:

  • what is appropriately funded by us or by other services
  • our legislation and guidance
  • if we have enough evidence to decide or need more.

Early intervention requirements are just one of the eligibility requirements. To be eligible for the NDIS under early intervention, the person must meet all the following:

  • age requirements
  • residence requirements
  • early intervention requirements.
