Update by the Chair

The Chair INFORMED the PRG:

  • that Minister Reynolds had recently announced Dr Denis AO as Chair of the National Disability Insurance Agency Board.
  • About the approach that would be taken in seeking agreement at an Annual Pricing Review (APR) recommendation level; PRG members offered their assistance briefing them about it too.

Disclosure Log

  • the extent to which NDIS therapy support providers required additional or specialised skills compared with therapists more broadly; where such providers may require extra hours.
  • Arrangements in this sector are tailored for people with disabilities but there is scope to explore mainstream options;
  • Consistency between pricing arrangements needs attention as does alignment across supports (therapy vs nursing).

Nursing Supports:

The Acting Branch Manager referred briefly on findings & recommendations related specifically about nurses’ qualifications levels/types impacting benchmarking/analysis processes within Allied Health contexts.

Support Coordination Supports:

The Chief Economist also discussed aspects regarding clearer roles/responsibilities among Coordinators and Plan Managers involved directly here too.

Plan Management Supports:

Further elaboration came from Pricing’s acting manager touching upon similar themes - greater clarity needed around these managers’ duties plus addressing any conflicts they might face professionally.

Final Comments:

Chairperson thanked attendees acknowledging time constraints, ensuring PRG views were gathered before Board discussions concluded. Invited further comments via Secretariat until Tuesday March 29th at close of business.
