Attachment a - Proposed NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention Approach

  • Family identifies support is required & searches for an Early Childhood Intervention service
  • The Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) service will work with the family to:
    • conduct a screening to determine support needs
    • If likely to meet NDIS access, Collect Evidence of Disability on behalf of the Agency
  • Access Request Form submitted to redacted: s22 NAT
  • If the child requires long term support
  • Family is referred to alternative specialist ECI service
  • Family chooses provider
  • Family develops a new plan & works with ECI provider
  • Supports received including longer-term functional capacity
  • Participant’s plan submitted for approval redacted: s22 NDIA
  • The ECI service will provide Information, Linkages & Capacity building supports and services, including:
    • Screening to determine supports
    • Short-med term functional capacity
    • Relationship building to improve social interactions & behaviours
    • Family capacity/capability building
    • Building greater inclusion
  • Improvement toward developmental milestones
  • Participant’s plan submitted for approval redacted: s22 NDIA
  • Family receive Early Childhood Intervention supports in natural & mainstream settings
  • Child exits the NDIS as they no longer require EI supports and is well integrated in mainstream & community services
