Capability and Culture of the NDIA
Submission 65
To Parliamentary inquiries,
Inquiry: The Capability and Culture of the NDIA
I am writing a submission recommended by Jordan Steele-John regarding NDIS and their behaviour. My experience with NDIA of recent has not been good or fair at all. I am furious that I am at this point of despair and feeling suicidal.
Your NDIA people moved me to plan-managed from Self managed, deeming me a risk when all I did was do the RIGHT thing the whole time! All I did was spend my NDIS funds on my required supports which include support worker, Auslan interpreting, social inclusion and workshops. And as I used these supports heavily (which is my right to do so to live my life!) your NDIA team decided to penalise me and deem me a risk! I am furious as I know now how to handle the use of my supports. I don’t need someone controlling me. Where is my right to choice and control? I am furious. Furious beyond anything now. Enough to want to end my life. Your NDIA people do not have the right to decide for us what is best for us.
I will say the NDIA’s capability is low, very low. They do not have the lived experiences of disabilities nor any understanding of our rights and supports. As a matter of fact, I was abused by one of your NDIA staff for wanting to choose MY OWN PREFERRED AND QUALIFIED Auslan interpreter and forced to use one of THEIR unqualified inexperienced horrible interpreters that actually behaved badly at one of our meetings 2 years ago so I told them earlier this year NO I will not use their preferred interpreting agency or interpreters and that I want to use my own! They were extremely abusive! So I filed a formal complaint and stated the ACT rules I found in the NDIS acts the rights of choice and control, so they emailed back and apologized and allowed my lovely LAC (who is an amazing person!) and I to book my preferred interpreter. Now this low form of behaviour by your NDIA to force and abuse me over MY own rights was nothing short of disgusting!!!
Culture – you can see the culture in the NDIA is a nasty toxic culture that I want FULLY removed, overhaul! I don’t wish to deal with these horrible NDIA people anymore and I want them all removed, as they have NO compassion, understanding or experience and many of them NEED to resign immediately and be replaced with experienced, talented, compassionate, empathetic people with disabilities or TRUE lived experiences (not fake stated lived experiences)!
Another thing that has angered me greatly is their removing my right to counselling!!! I have the right to choose the counsellor I want and this is why I want self-managed!!!! AND I want self-managed for many reasons – that is, my plan manager has NOT been paying my support worker OR my mower team ON TIME!!! Leaving invoices unpaid for MONTHS!!!! How do you think that makes me feel!?!? Angry and embarrassed!!!! When I was self-managed, I PAID everyone on time!! ON TIME!!!!
Now to deem me a risk to be self-managed just makes me extremely furious and suicidal! I am perfectly SAFE and capable of handling my own funds responsibly!!! Deeming me a risk is DISCRIMINATION and targets me personally when I see others on self-managed!! GIVE MY self-management rights back NOW! OR I end my life!
The other thing that made me furious is their “reasonable and necessary” rules are not right! They are limiting and discrimination! I was once told I COULD get my dental stuff paid for as my dental IS disability-related (BORN WITH A CLEFT PALATE – DON’T YOU THINK THIS IS A DISABILITY!?!?) I WANT MY RIGHT TO HAVE IMPLANTS SO I CAN EAT AS NORMAL AGAIN! A PLATE DOES NOT WORK FOR ME! So please pay attention to all I have said and CHANGE the system, get rid of all the useless

delegates who are sitting on their bums and rejecting EVERY valid right of disabled people! And bring back my self-management and leave me alone so I can live my life with my supports!
