General issues around the implementation and performance of the NDIS

I am unable to be at the Public Hearing in Townsville next Thursday but I did want to inform anyone interested of my positive experience with the NDIS in Townsville.

I am the Guardian for who is severely autistic and also has learning difficulties. We have been participants of the NDIS since its inception and are now on to our fourth Plan, still to be finalised but apparently waiting final signature somewhere at head office.

At first when we attended planning at NDIS in Townsville it was with great hesitation because it was such an important occasion. However by the end of that first interview when we actually took after us and she last five minutes at the interview, stole a teddy bear and left with her carer; the rest of us left that meeting later on feeling much more relaxed and confident that good things were about to happen.

At the fourth interview sang opera in the foyer, lasted more than half an hour with small breaks and we still left that meeting happy and confident that we are pursuing a better life for Aurora.

I’m glad to share my positive involvement with the Townsville NDIS people who I find are easy to access and willing to help . The only fly in the ointment is parking is difficult right in the city but there’s not much that NDIS can do about that.
