General issues around the implementation and performance of the NDIS

I wish to participant in the feedback process to the Senate Joint Standing Committee into the NDIS.

I am registered with the NDIS and some of my feedback I consider as a valuable insight into the NDIS, Providers, and what I consider over charging.

I also consider the audit fees that are being charged to providers excessive and restricts local registered auditors from being competitive in the market place. With this on cost reduced then savings can be made for Provider and subsequently the NDIS through reduction in line items being charged by the NDIS and subsequently the Providers.

I have also noticed some profiteering from some Providers, there is no quality control of their performance. The issue with charging for such things as not turning up for appointments and allowing allied workers to charge fees. I had situation, where I was unable to turn up for appointment, because I woke up sick, I was advised by service provider that I would not be charged, but they sent an invoice to my Financial Intermiary for payment. Another service provider stated they would not do this but again they did. Because I stand up for myself, I feel their Business Model must be either flawed or they are taking advantage of the NDIS for extra payments. Advised by a certain service provider where they have cancellation they have a waiting list they can ring for someone to come in that day for appointment. If they have someone come in and they charge them and also charge the NDIS then they are committing fraud against the government.
