I am the mother of a 14 year old boy with ASD level 2, ADHD and Developmental Language Disorder.

I have heard nothing good from those who have been involved in the pilot independent assessments.

I find it absurd that the assessor that could be assigned to do my son’s assessment may not even have experience with his disabilities. How can they fully understand the impacts of his disabilities compared to his therapists, particularly his paediatrician whom he has been seeing for more than 10 years? How can we be comfortable to share our struggles with a virtual stranger?

People with disabilities do not all fit in one box or category. Everyone’s needs are different.
