Dear Secretary,
I don’t believe Independent Assessments will result in a better NDIS service. The government has made it clear in their recently leaked report that their priority is to save revenue, not provide better supports to disabled people. If the government wants to “even the playing field” they should provide funding for assessments provided by professionals including those familiar with a disabled person’s history. I have cerebral palsy. I use a wheelchair but have no speech difficulty. I was assessed for the Disability Support Pension (and denied it) by a speech therapist. It seemed nonsensical and I have no reason to think Independent Assessments will fare any better.
