As a disabled person I am terrified of what will occur if these assessments are allowed. Lives will be lost due to neglect and mental health problems that this will exacerbate. I am greatly uncomfortable with having very intimate and private questions asked by a stranger I have never met. When you go to a doctor for the first time you judge whether this doctor will be suitable for you and if you feel comfortable discussing private things with them. Independent Assessments will not allow for that.

I am also deeply concerned with having this stranger into my home, I do not invite strangers into my home. I also have a dog that is not good with strangers. This is all incredibly intimidating and distressing to the disabled community. Disabled people are trying to live a ordinary life and that is what NDIS is supposed to be about, with the IA introduction this will mean that many of us can no longer live and ordinary life. We are not bad people for wanting to live a comfortable life with dignity. Please remember we are humans also.
