The general goal of this is to standardize disability supports in the way that health professionals are standardized in your image. People living with disabilities arn’t made in that platonic ideal.
Natural Justice. There is a hard limit of 90 days to obtain a report. I’m not sure what planet these martian bureaucrats live on. Three months is wildly optimistic. Could you publish statistics regarding the wait times that participants typically wait for their reports through the scheme? More than six months is not unusual. This risks obstructing the course of natural justice by preventing persons accused of not being eligible from having access to supports necessary to challenge and defend themselves against such accusations. For some it could potentially be a death sentence. Under an insurance model, a defendant could request an adjournment of the case for a reasonable period necessary to obtain such a report. Guidance is needed from the guilds requiring reasonable provisions for health professionals in order to produce reports in a timely manner under this scheme and reasonable periods of time spent assessing persons.
There are not enough forensic psychiatrists for the prison system already. A suitable professional to determine if a person were faking it for many persons on the NDIS would be a forensic psychiatrist. The agency is to be empowered to determine the scope of practice of the professionals that they hire. The scope of practice of these independent assessment clinics is to reduce NDIA spending. The reasonableness of the time period, the staffing levels and remuneration are to be determined by the agency.
The agency, by requiring participants to subject themselves to a particular assessor in a particular place places them at risk of harm. I offer any member a free health exam. Any number of sharps may or may not be involved while the duration, frequency, pressure and force shall be decided by myself according to whatever I shall decide is clinically necessary and my opinion shall be inviolable. failure to attend or fully comply with assessments shall result in seizure of your assets. It is completely voluntary.
Will the independent assessors be restrained behind a barrier for the safety of participants? Personally, having been a victim of medical torture, violence, threats, humiliations and patient abuse in general perpetrated by health professionals within Australia I would have to say that I would prefer to seek voluntary assisted dying rather than be subjected to what would amount to involuntary medical procedures. At least provide the mercy of allowing participants a quick and painless death as an alternative to the existing two options. regarding games and play. Set up a game of Go Fish. Can they make a jianzi? Play a game of backyard cricket? handball? These are things that people are meant to latently learn in school but it’s not a part of any ATAR exam. It’s not a part of any citizenship or immigration test. Adults forget to draw trees with smiles, arms and legs and need to relearn childhood games by reading dry boring books about 19th century Italian orphanages. How can someone manage problem behaviours or facilitate social activities without being able to teach some games?
