National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Getting the NDIS Back on Track No. 1) Bill 2024
Submission 202
Inquiry: The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Getting the NDIS Back on Track No. 1) Bill 2024
greetings,
This is my submission in relation to the above as a recipient of the ndis and non-organisation affiliated citizen, Personal Submission
My own process with the NDIS has been a complicated one, I am now at a pretty-good situation regarding my funding if not my supports. The complications are many but involve of course my own situation and issues but also the interacting with some very mediocre to say the least employees of support businesses/plan managers, and general human inefficiency.
There seems so much to read and understand to be properly objective and informed about this subject so I will just focus on my hopes below.
It must be hard to find the exact middle point between fairness and fascism when it comes to human behaviour, needs, disability, oversight and all related to NDIS and facilitation, empathy and budget.
I hope the NDIS reforms PROPERLY and with compassion weed out the dishonest exploiters of both government and business employed supports who inflate their roles and budgets at recipients and governments expense.
I more hope if not trust that compassionate scientific ratification can be used to bring increased supports to MORE elements of society and NOT the reliance of old or new discompassionate dubious opinions disguised as science to invalidate and reclaim budget.
Facilitating scientific and experiential evidence that leads the way to accurate AND compassionate relationships, solutions and outcomes is essential, not the facilitation of flare-up opinions, often debunked as biased, used to invalidate and suppress. I believe I have personally witnessed this as part of the current system.
I believe the psychological/emotional/social damage done by our society’s disharmony stretches deeper and further than most would ever admit or realise. I feel that many of my approved government (perhaps less so?) and business supports - (plan managers, support coordinators, even support workers in some cases)
- have been lessened by their own societally, psychologically, familiarly and even spiritually depressed own needs and supports understandings. So I humbly suggest more support pan socially/societally for those undiagnosed and part of “normal”/non-disabled society in typical employment situations.
Perhaps some cheaper alternatives or helpful measures would be (more?) public support groups that help people come together and discuss many elements of their situations; their needs/supports,

the NDIS, positives and concerns?
Empathy, understanding, accuracy or even fiscal responsibility (one way and the other) are not well conducted by the subtly or overtly repressed.
To end, I hope these proposed reforms do the right thing and what I hope they’re meant to and not cut too harshly either way, help facilitate a more supported, empathetic and connected society, increasingly freed from stigma, separation and judgements, where everyone is healthy enough to have empathy and support each other.
I’m pretty sure healthy people don’t support morally corrupt money making schemes like wars and weapons sales.
PS: I’m personally not a fan of most people procreating and believe that the laissez-faire approach many seem to take to family and procreation is a cause of great waste, harm, concern and continuation of problems far into the future. Human procreation should not be used as a tool of manipulation or labor, as “great” as the emotionally wounded are as rampant, profitable and needy consumers; it’s very irresponsible of us all as members of societies, governments, businesses and as a species.
Thanks,
- Reuben
