To whom it may concern, We would like to ask the NOIA why the NOIA is supplying funding for our son who has OS, stroke, sleep apnoea and gout to live in a SIL which is being given $3957

• a quarter of his disability pension, 100% of his energy supplement + rent support per week for an unfurnished room in a 2 bedroom SIL apartment. He pays for all of his food, personal hygiene items and medications. He covers all medical costs, including private and dental health. He contributes weekly also to the houses vehicle which is there to pick up his medication once every three weeks and if he needs it. He has a package which we are extremely grateful for however when we break it down far and away his greatest expense is his accommodation at a Sil which is an unfurnished room with a shared overnight carer between 5 people of which one of these is high needs and definitely needs this support. If our son continues, we have worked out he is about $150.00 behind every week.

There are a lot of requirements that we need to meet. Luckily we have been able to afford to help our son with these expenses, however if he was on his own he would be at the mercy of the public health system which would be inadequate for his health needs. It is more beneficial to relinquish the families responsibilities than to engage in joint responsibility. We would be happy to talk to someone about the more intricate details of our sons participation in NOIS which has acquired and approved a lot of these standards and practises such as Behavioural supportt which we did not agree. This was imposed upon us and funding was made available for an inhouse Behavioural Specialist to be paid over $13,000 to come up with a Behvioural Plan. This may not be what you are looking for in relation to your feedback and survey. If it isn’t please advise us as to who we can talk to about the issues we have and the inflated costs we have to incur because he is on the NOIS e.g. if he wants 1 :1 assistance on the NOIS there is one price for the general public and another for someone on the NOIS.
