Submission on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Getting the NDIS Back on Track No. 1) Bill 2024

I am an NDIS participant.

I want to respond to the proposed changes to the NDIS Bill.

I am concerned with the proposed changes about access to the scheme and how future plans will be developed to facilitate an overall budget.

I have multiple disabilities which all impact my functional capacity as a whole person in 1 form or another. I am a complexed person and cannot be put into boxes/classes.

There is also no review process to challenge what condition I was accepted for as I don’t know which condition I was accepted. If my future budget doesn’t meet my needs, I can’t request a review if only 1 of my disabilities is recorded, and hence the outcome of any reviews will be the same.

We also need to find out how plan budgets are determined and by what mechanism, and not an algorithm.

I hope the Committee will take all submissions seriously in preparing its report.
