Submission on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Getting the

NDIS Back on Track No. 1) Bill 2024

Name: Rebecca Jury

I am an NDIS participant & person with a disability - is also an NDIS participant & person with a disability. We have close family & friends who are also NDIS participants & people with a disability.

I want to respond to the proposed changes to the NDIS Bill.

I am concerned with Bill Shorten stating in parliament that services that include animals, extcept assistance animals, will be excluded from future NDIS funding. He also stated that somatic therapy will also be excluded.

The motto of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is to make a difference in the lives of Australians and deliver a world-leading Scheme. Their mission is to build a world-leading NDIS, allowing people with disabilities to choose and achieve their goals.

By excluding ANY therapies is narrow minded, discriminatory and blatently shows the lack of actual interesUcare for anyone with a disability. Disabilities are many and varied and so too must the therapies be so each individual can access what they NEED to function and engage with the community/society ……life.

I hope the Committee will take all submissions seriously in preparing its report.
