Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

To know that parents can fully concentrate on their children with disabilities and not worry about financial burdens - the best carers are the parents that these children love and trust. They need to be available 24/7

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Ensure support and equipment is available when needed,
• Better access to education and work opportunities,
• Minimising the number of times people have to tell their story in order to get support

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Equipment and home/vehicle modifications,
• Life-skills,
• Flexible in-home/outside home respite

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

With friends having a child with a major disability I can see benefits - no matter how small - helping them in their lives and helping their child become more independent.

I agree for my submission to be made public
