Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

I feel that people with disability are unecessarily limited and disadvantage from enjoying the freedoms and services the rest of the community take for granted.

I believe the vast majority of the community would be willing to contribute more taxes towards improving services to people with disabilities. In addition, I feel more of the revenue governments raise should be directed to social services, such as disability services.

Equity is what our society should be about.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Ensure support and equipment is available when needed, Better access to mainstream support and services, More opportunities to participate in the community

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Therapy and allied health services, Education support (technology/services/equipment), Life-skills

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

Because its a great to starting the process to achieve fairness and equity for people with disabilities.

People who are born with disabilities should not be disadvantaged, when compared with people who suffer an injury at work or on our roads.
