Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

Ha!!! What disability system? A system that makes it so difficult to survive that you cannot afford to pay someone to care for you and have to send back the wheelchair you rely on because rental charges are so high… Leaving me bed bound and taking away my wheelchair independence.. Now left to figure out hoe to afford meat or veges… Because you cant have both… And by the way my live in carer gets $386 per week from you to do much more for me than the government used to do when I was in Hospital ehere it cisy the government $2100 per day to keep me in…. Yep I have a fabulous life NOT :-(

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Ensure support and equipment is available when needed,
• People with disability can choose who comes into their home,
• People with disability/family will influence the types of support and services offered

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Equipment and home/vehicle modifications,
• In-home care and domestic assistance,
• Positive behaviour support and psychological services

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

Becausr the government has made my life a nightmare!!!
