Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
I have been injured for 4 years now and despite the fact that I have retrained and successfully found some employment, I still need ongoing treatment and am only able to work limited hours so my income has dramtically reduced and this -has impacted now,that I have to wholely support myself. Who is going to pay for my ongoing treatment when my income is minimal and -the disability system has a limiting timefram
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
- More employment of people with disability and less reliance on social welfare,
- The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person,
- People with disability/family will influence the types of support and services offered
-The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
-Therapy and allied health services, Education support -(technology/services/equipment), Support for families and carers
-I support the introduction of the NDIS.
If everyone is able to access medical treatment whenever necesarry and when -required. -People won’t be trying to falsify claims in order to receive large amounts of -compensation.
