Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

It doesn’t always chatter full all aspects of care needed by the clients I support, as it is the best we have so far, I look forward to a better , more efficient, and cost affective service.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Ensure support and equipment is available when needed, People with a disability can choose the types of support to use, Better access to education and work opportunities, More opportunities to participate in the community, More employment of people with disability and less reliance on social welfare, The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person, Less red tape, with planning done locally by people who know their community

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Support for families and carers, Accommodation options, Crisis and emergency support, Positive behaviour support and psychological services

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

We can always provide a better service to Australians who need it, and I be live we can save money by providing services that are appropriately assigned to people, where as some people are using services they either don’t need or are simply taking advantage of , which is using up resorses and funding that can be better used by those that are currently being asked to wait or just missing out alltogether.
