Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

My family and close relatives are fortunate enough that we do not have someone with a disability. The reason for my submission is the discrepancies i have read about with regards to many families with disabled children and the monies/insurance they receive.

Early intervention is the key and without funding families cannot do the best for their children to try and ensure they become working productive citizens.

Main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community

• More employment of people with disability and less reliance on social welfare,
• The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person,
• Older parents and families will not worry what happens when they can no longer provide support

Most important services for the NDIS to provide:

• Support for families and carers,
• Accommodation options,
• Flexible in-home/outside home respite

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

Every Australian person should have the same support and access to disability services and entitlements.
