Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

As having a niece with a disability, the disability system helps my sister and her husband out a great deal. It is beryllium trying to raise a child with a disability even with family support. The medical bills alone is enough cripple a well off family. The disability system helps makes their lives that little bit easier.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Better access to mainstream support and services,
• Better access to education and work opportunities,
• People with a disability can plan their lives and pursue their goals and dreams

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Therapy and allied health services,
• Life-skills,
• Support for families and carers

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

I support through scheme as it helps families with disabilities by reducing stress with money and carers. Most parents or spouses often give up work to be a primary carer so the disability scheme helps out a great deal.
