Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

Currently we have no need to use the disability system but believe very strongly that we have a moral obligation to support Australians who need and deserve financial aid from the Government when they have a health problem.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Ensure support and equipment is available when needed,
• More rights for people with a disability,
• Older parents and families will not worry what happens when they can no longer provide support

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Therapy and allied health services,
• Life-skills,
• Case management, planning and coordination

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

Am happy for my taxes to be used to support the NSIS. It should not be considered a SCHEME as much as a RIGHT for people who have a disability in this country to be eligable for financial and community support.
