Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

The disability system doesnt work for us because when my son left school disability services told me they couldnt do anything for him because he didnt fit into any of their catagories

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Better access to mainstream support and services,
• More employment of people with disability and less reliance on social welfare,
• More rights for people with a disability

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Therapy and allied health services,
• Crisis and emergency support,
• Positive behaviour support and psychological services

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

Being a parent of a child with a disability we have been dealing with every aspect of my sons ns life on our own with no help from the government and only help from his imediate family

I agree for my submission to be made public
