Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

in my line of work i continuatilly see people with disabilities especially deafness.

the things i would like to see is a fairness provided to everyone equal.

this coming from mainly government agency.

it is there obligation to follow the DDA however by not booking interpreters lots of deaf are missing out on equal access and oppurtunities and information in there lives.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

  • Better access to mainstream support and services,
  • The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person,
  • Access to reliable information about support options

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

  • Education support (technology/services/equipment),
  • Crisis and emergency support,
  • Interpreters and other communication support

I support the introduction of the NDIS. i beleive that everyone should have equal access to services and opportunities in there life time and the NDIS is helping this happen.
