Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

The system is too ridgid I have individual needs I require my services structured to my lifestyl the the areas of my life that matter most, i like to work and study, s travel is a problem it is costly and not very reliable, at time I require more assistance than other my condition is one of chronic illness, and physical disability. Too many assessment prices, I have a permanent disability why do I have to prove it every year or every six months

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Ensure support and equipment is available when needed, People with a disability can choose the types of support to use, People with disability can choose who comes into their home

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Therapy and allied health services, Equipment and home/vehicle modifications, In-home care and domestic assistance

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

It will cover everyone including PWD, family, carer and support people, it will cater to individual needs , the services can by chosen by the person, everyone is different, services and support, equipment etc, should to customized it will provide security and safety that people know they are covered for ever and no to meet the needs of the individual not the needs of the services which gives peace of mind to P their families
