Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

We need it so that my son can get the help that he requires to lead as normal life as possible. He is almost seven and his early funding is about to stop, I find this very disturbing as his disability goes on, his mother and I are at the end of the rope. Our marriage is suffering as a result. I work in the disability field as a support worker I have been doing this job for 11 years now, and as a worker most of the people that I work with, need some more help to achieve their goals in life, so please if you care at all we need your help.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• More opportunities to participate in the community,
• Less red tape, with planning done locally by people who know their community,
• Removal of age barriers to services for children,
• People with disability/family will influence the types of support and services offered

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Education support (technology/services/equipment),
• Life-skills,
• Recreation and community access

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

Because I believe that it is a better system. and will be farer to all.
