ePlease consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

The disability assistance system does not work for me as I am not able to get the help when I need it

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Ensure support and equipment is available when needed,
• People with a disability can choose the types of support to use,
• The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Therapy and allied health services,
• Education support (technology/services/equipment),
• In-home care and domestic assistance

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

So that I can get assistance. It is difficult living in a small community where I do not get any assistance and the people in the community have not been very nice to me. The Doctor in charge of the local surgery told me not to hang around! This is despite the fact that I have received a lot of injuries in a car accident from which I do not get a payout as I passed out while driving. I suffer from a lot of chronic pain and have to put up with nasty neighbours!
