Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

I cant afford to get any interpreter for private business= example bank, solicitor, hobbies, meeting any hearing people for family tree etc, or theatres for hearing children while I care ETC ETC But NAB provide interpreters for medical health only. And Deaf Adult Society provide interpreters for funerals only but would do else for very poor people only.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• People with a disability can choose the types of support to use, More rights for people with a disability, The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Recreation and community access, Crisis and emergency support, Interpreters and other communication support

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

My deaf husband & I support NDIS strongly because of our experience in deaf community as alot of deaf people need interpreter service provide for their need to help their communicate better between hearing & deaf.
