Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

The disability system in qld is useless. We have been on a waiting list for a year and just get told your still on the waiting list. The list were on is to help out child with early intervention. By the time he gets a place he’ll be too old and past the current point of early intervention.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Better access to mainstream support and services,
• The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person,
• Removal of age barriers to services for children

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Therapy and allied health services,
• Life-skills,
• Support for families and carers

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

Any help for people with disabilities is a god sent. We need all the help we can get as carers to assist our children with disabilities to have the best life they can
