Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

The main reaon is that nearly all programs offered put my child in a box based on the organisations funding criteria. This doesnt cater for my childs individual needs and support

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• People with a disability can choose the types of support to use,
• People with a disability can plan their lives and pursue their goals and dreams,
• The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Life-skills,
• Recreation and community access,
• Support for families and carers

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

This wil give my child the flexibility to undertake activities, goals and desires that he wants to accomplish. This will take the burden off us as a family in pushing & fighting for what our child needs in order to live an accomplished and balanced life. The NDIS will allow us not to focus / channel all our energy on the red tape in providing a quality of life to a person that has the right and choices to live life to the fullest! It will allow for us to support his needs and have the choice and freedom to do want he chooses.
