Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

Our daughter was diagnosed with Brain Tumor At the age of 6 leaving her with multiple Life threatening Conditions. The most Dangerous of all being END ORGAN there are No Parts that can be given to her. We put Her to bed at night and hope she is still With us next morning. Or really anytime of The day. She needs lots of help and wants to live A Semi Self Sufficient Life but without This funding being made available she Has no hope. She has very complex needs And needs constant Supervision or she Will EAT HERSELF TO DEATH. Both myself And my husband have significant health Issues His being Bowel Cancer and Heart. Mine being Cardiomyopthopy and other.

We can’t gets an to help fund our Daughters Things she needs and we are really desperate For her to have as decent a Quality of Life as she can while she is with us. So Please Please Help Us. Desperate parents Lyn &Kevin May

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

More rights for people with a disability, People with a disability can plan their lives and pursue their goals and dreams, Less red tape, with planning done locally by people who know their community, People with disability/family will influence the types of support and services offered

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

  • Support for families and carers,
  • Accommodation options,
  • Positive behaviour support and psychological services

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

We are all hoping it makes a Huge difference to the lives of our Loved ones and ourselves. Things are becoming desperate for so many It is Imperative that this Scheme is implemented
