Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Bill 2012.

The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.

Very little or no assistance for services that improve life style

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:

• Better access to mainstream support and services,
• Better access to education and work opportunities,
• People with a disability can plan their lives and pursue their goals and dreams

The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:

• Therapy and allied health services,
• Life-skills,
• Employment support

I support the introduction of the NDIS.

My family has now dealt with disability at an up close & personal level. I feel that if we had not had a family member at close hand, who is involved with diability, the assistance required would not have been as readily available. Promotion (advertising) of assistance would be advantageous. If it is not out there people do not know

I also believe that not all families are able to provide for their disabled child - cost wise - for associated health servcies. Assistance in the form of physical & mental assistance for family members would also be good. All forms of assistance need to be readily accessable
