Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
I am fortunate in not having a serious disability and my family is fine also. However, life for the disabled and their families is very difficult and any support that may be given to them would be welcome.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
People with a disability can choose the types of support to use, More opportunities to participate in the community, Access to reliable information about support options
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Life-skills, Employment support, In-home care and domestic assistance
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
I support this scheme because it will give much-needed assistance to the disabled and their families and carers.
