Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
i am a adult with Autism and have a son with Autism also and another son with ODD ADHD and SRBD and doing on my own its a huge struggle with their father who is in denail and services that they should have got at a younger age did not as could not afford to do it.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
Better access to mainstream support and services, More rights for people with a disability, Removal of age barriers to services for children
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Education support (technology/services/equipment), Life-skills, Support for families and carers, In-home care and domestic assistance, Flexible in home/outside home respite
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
