Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
It has been proven in the Productivity Commission People with a Disability are being short-changed by $6.3 BILLION NOW! This amount should be implemented by the Federal Govt. immediately, not in 6 8-10 years time!!
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
Ensure support and equipment is available when needed, Minimising the number of times people have to tell their story in order to get support, Older parents and families will not worry what happens when they can no longer provide support
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Employment support, Support for families and carers, Crisis and emergency support
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
There is a chance, even though a slim one with this Federal Govt., People with a Disability will receive the extra monetary funding they deserve, rather than wasting $Billions on unnecessary Govt. projects. People with a Disability should be No.1 Priority for every Government who cares for their People in any Country, with full financial support directed to People with a Disability before ANY other Govt. subsidies, allocations, developments, schemes, grants etc.
