Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
well I have had a disability since I worked in a timber mill years ago and I had to fight to obtain the D.S.P then I tried working again to support my Family and ended up with torn tendons in left shoulder I presently manage a small caravanpark and it is a struggle now also as I had to bye a caravan to live in and built extension to set it up for office and a bit more comforts and Know help from Moyne Shire Council we have worked our selfs to a point that we are going to give it up and go for a holiday
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
Ensure support and equipment is available when needed, People with a disability can choose the types of support to use, Better access to mainstream support and services, Better access to education and work opportunities, More employment of people with disability and less reliance on social welfare, More rights for people with a disability, People with a disability can plan their lives and pursue their goals and dreams, The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person, Minimising the number of times people have to tell their story in order to get support, Removal of age barriers to services for children
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Support for families and carers, Accommodation options, In-home care and domestic assistance, Crisis and emergency support
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
I support this as it is necessary for the disabled people of this country the government need to get their pryoities right instead of giving handouts to the boat people they get better support than us
