Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
I work for an NGO in the disability field and we need to make the distribution of funds equitable and fairer across the board.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
People with a disability can plan their lives and pursue their goals and dreams, Less red tape, with planning done locally by people who know their community, Older parents and families will not worry what happens when they can no longer provide support
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Life-skills, Support for families and carers, Accommodation options
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
I think that this will make all areas fairer and allow support of families and also allow family members to be assured that their relatives will be looked after when they have passed away.
