Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
Lack of flexibility and control over the hours alloted to me by disability services limits my ability to use them to best advantage for my needs
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
Ensure support and equipment is available when needed, More opportunities to participate in the community, The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Equipment and home/vehicle modifications, Employment support, Support for families and carers
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
Every person deserves toe opportunity to live meaningful lives - be able to shower, sleep and eat safely as well as get out into the community and contribute to society.
