Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
Lack of Awareness for the Deaf in Wagga Wagga. Need to set up a classroom for the deaf children only which can work on improve a child’s education. There is no interpreter available at Wagga.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
Better access to mainstream support and services, People with a disability can plan their lives and pursue their goals and dreams, Removal of age barriers to services for children
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Education support (technology/services/equipment), Life-skills, Interpreters and other communication support
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
Because it is for the deaf children and families which they really need support and also the cost helps to cover resources and travel.
