Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
I am fortunate in that we do not have disability in our family. I do however, know of a few families who are really “doing it tough” These people struggle through each day trying to be the best parent/carer sometimes with other children. One can only marvel at the “load” they carry. Parents of children/adults feel guilty wondering what they did wrong to have had a child with a disability, and the very last thing they should have to contend with is a hard uphill struggle to find some financial, educational, equipment, and carer support. Some of these “little” people do not feel they have a voice. Please, carefully consider all aspects of care in our communities for people with disability. You have access to experts so lets think of ways the whole community could take care of our “beautiful “ ones, and give them the financial means to do so. We do not need big sporting complexes and swimming centres, we DO need good support for our disabled.

The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
More employment of people with disability and less reliance on social welfare, Increased ability to coordinate services to suit the “whole” person/family, Less red tape, with planning done locally by people who know their community
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Education support (technology/services/equipment), Employment support, Support for families and carers
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
I have an affinity with the underprivillaged and disadvantaged and want the very best support possible for them.
We the able bodied, must “go the extra mile” for such people and provide all the services they need just to be able to enjoy the same privillages we do.
I believe the NDIS will provide extra services to our disabled friends and give them, their family/carers some relief from constant worry and fear for their much loved “special” people.
I believe the people of Australia are behind the NDIS 100%.
